Choose Opticalc to save both energy and the environment
Scale deposits lead to imperceptible, creeping loss of efficiency of your hot water systems. Already minimal scaling on heat exchangers results in a significant increase in energy consumption.
A large-scale US study into the impact of hard water on energy costs, commissioned by the Water Quality Association (WQA), shows that loss of efficiency increases rapidly, particularly in combi boilers (gas heaters). Regardless of the hardness of the tested water, you can rapidly save up to 5.4% on your energy bill by preventing scaling.
How fast do scale deposits form?
This obviously depends on the hardness of the water. In any case, however, the process is very fast. Scaling forms already from 5°F. In Belgium and the Netherlands, the average water hardness is 15°F (8dH) (or 15 mg calcium per litre), so scaling is a problem that affects us all to varying degrees. Research shows your hot water system is at an increased risk of scaling related problems already after 4 years.
It is therefore important to deal promptly with scale deposits. OPTICALC provides an efficient and user-friendly solution that is also affordable with a short return on investment.
